Work, Furniture, and School - Oh My!!!

I guess another word I could have put into the title of this week's post is "sick." Janessa and I have both been under the weather for the last few days, and it has made things a little less fun than they normally would have been. We still weren't recovered today, so I ended up staying completely home from Church; Janessa went to conduct music during Sacrament Meeting and then left after the 1st hour. Hopefully the time off will help us to get better for the coming week.

These last two weeks haven't all been bad though. The Chicago Illinois Temple got some flood damage a couple months ago, so Janessa and I haven't been able to go regularly like we'd have wanted to. Anyways, it re-opened on the 3rd of March and we decided to go down last Friday (the 6th). That wasn't the only purpose of our trip, though; we'd been planning on going to IKEA for a while to get some furniture, so we worked that into the trip as well. Being the uninitiated male that I am, I falsely assumed that it would be a quick trip - we knew what we were looking for (an end-table and bedside table), had a budget, and had done some research online. Needless to say I was wrong - we were there for longer than I thought, but we did get some good stuff. Here's how they look now:

As for work, I can now say that I'm no longer in the ranks of the unemployed. I just got a job with TruGreen, a nationwide lawn-care company, as a Route Manager. It's not the job I envisioned getting after college, but it is something that will let me earn some money for law school. I'm just doing training now, but when it gets done in the next week (or two??) I'll be the guy applying treatments to customers' lawns. Long hours, hard work, and not too much fun, but at least I'll be making money. With the way the economy is going right now, I'm just grateful to have a job...

Now for the last part of the post. When we got back from IL Saturday night (yes, we drove down on Friday only to drive back the next day) we had a letter from the University of Cincinnati waiting for us. It got me sort of depressed because a small envelope usually means that you've gotten rejected. Well, this wasn't an all-out rejection, but it wasn't an all-out acceptance either. I've been placed on their wait list, so we'll have to wait and see with them. That brings the tally of schools I've heard back from to 4 - St. Louis (Yes), U of Illinois (No), U of Florida (No), and U of Cincinnati (Maybe). Hopefully by next week we'll have some better news to share as far as the law school watch goes.

Just want to let you know that Catherine and I are also going through the difficult ordeal of waiting to hear back from law schools, and deciding where to go. You are not alone, I feel your pain!

It's nice to know that at least one other person is going through what Janessa and I are now...I'm somewhat of a control person, so the uncertainty is by far the worst part for me.
