Chair!

So besides getting our apartment almost all the way set-up (ALMOST being the key word, hence the absence of pictures), the big event from this last week was our capture of the above-pictured rocking chair from IKEA.  A quick note Janessa wanted me to share about the chair - it is in no way attached to the beautiful red and black Albanian flag behind it...Anyways, we figured going bland (light wood, off-white cushions) would be best since we're not sure what color our future home will be.  We did do some shopping around before getting it, but the only other option within our budget was a nasty, puke-colored recliner.  While it was certainly more comfortable than the rocker, neither Janessa nor I could bring ourselves to getting it.

While our apartment is still not all the way set up, it was set up enough for us to have some friends over for last Thursday's national-championship game.  While I wasn't really heavily invested in either team, I was rooting more for Alabama, mainly because of Nick Saban's Big Ten ties (he coached at Michigan State in the late 90s).  I was alone in my cheering for the Tide, however, as one of the others is from Texas, another served his mission there, and Janessa continued her tradition of rooting for the underdog by pulling for Texas.  As is usually the case I ended up prevailing, as Alabama beat Texas 37-21.

So that's what we've been up to.  In the coming weeks we'll have more to blog about, as life will get a bit more exciting.  My parents and younger brother Ryan are coming to visit this weekend (my Dad will be attending Dairy Forum 2010 Sunday-Wednesday), school starts up again for me on the 19th, Janessa's mom is coming to visit at the end of the month, and rumors are swirling about a couple of Janessa's friends coming to visit as well.

We'll make sure to keep you all updated!
