Another Visitor!

So we got a little messed up with our blogging-schedule...but we're gonna get back on track.  I'm not exactly sure why, but I want to see if Janessa and I can actually average a post a week this year.  Some weeks we may not have something up, but by the end of the year there should be 52 entries.

This last week we got our 2nd and final visitor for the month of January, as Janessa's mom Patty came down from Vernal to visit.  She hadn't been out to see us since we got married, so a while back she decided to buy some plane tickets as a birthday present to herself.  She flew in on Thursday night, and her and Janessa have been having a lot of fun since then.  Patty's birthday was Friday night, so Janessa and I took her out to dinner at this Japanese place  named Kabuki.  While they shared some sushi, I ordered the Japanese-style ribs.  They were good (the ribs, that is), but I'm definitely going to be sticking w/ American-style BBQ ribs whenever given the choice...

While Janessa and Patty were carousing around town the last few days, I've been holed up somewhere studying.  School's officially going to start its third week tomorrow, and things are starting to pick up homework wise.  Not only that, it's also prime-recruiting time for summer associate positions.  I'm not exactly sure what type of law I want to practice yet, so my strategy is to go through the law firm directory and apply to pretty much any mid-sized & up firm that catches my eye.  Are some of these places over my head?  I'm sure they are, but I figure that the wider net I cast, the greater the chance that I actually have something to do this summer.  As with most all professions, entry into the world of law is based in large part on nepotism...this summer is my chance to firm-up contacts that will hopefully help me get a job in 2012.

Which brings me to my last point...when you're sending out e-mails looking for work, make sure to attach the relevant documents.  I must have sent out 5-6 e-mails tonight without anything attached.  Although I caught my error fairly quickly and sent out e-mails w/ the relevant documents, it was funny to think that I expected these people to evaluate me based solely on a cover-letter...
