...of the semester, that is. It's pretty crazy for me to think that I'm getting ready to finish up my first semester at law school. Things have gone by pretty quick, but I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. Things are making more sense, I'm settling into a routine, and I'm feeling pretty good about my choice to come here. That doesn't mean I'm not nervous or that things have been easy. I know finals are going to be done in a month from Tuesday, so that does freak me out. Something about having almost your entire grade (or your entire grade) based off a single test is a little unnerving...
Anyways, I'm glad to see our last post got some sort of response out of people. I know I've been bad at doing this, but law school has kept me super-busy (just ask Janessa). Hopefully none of you took it too hard that Janessa and I aren't actually having a kid right now, but we'll let you all know when we do. As an update though, last week's addition - Peter the Penguin - is slowly deflating and looks like he's nearing the end of his road. Balloon sculpting is one of the many weird things I'd like to do sometime in the near future (along with buying an ice-cream shop, owning a house with a bide, and taking a summer-long car trip through Europe). When (or if) that'll happen, nobody knows...
So what have the Mrs. and I been up to? Not a whole lot, actually. Janessa's doing well at work, settling in and making friends like we all thought she would. It's nice not having to worry about her traveling all the time like I did when we were in Madison. It's also nice not having to see her as stressed out about work, so things are going well for her job-wise.
I'm doing good as well. Things are chugging along with school, and I'm getting ready to decide where I'll apply for a summer externship. An externship's like an internship except that you not only don't get paid, but you pay to be there. On the flip side, you can also get up to 6 credits for school, depending on how much you want to pay. My goal's to do 6 credits this summer and 6 credits next summer and then graduate in Dec. of 2011 instead of May 2012. Not only would I be 26 instead of 27 when I graduate, I'd also be able to enter the workforce earlier (Janessa's happiest about that last part...). I really have no idea which ones I'll apply for or which ones I'll get, but I'll let you all know when I find out at the end of January.
Sports-wise, Janessa & I are both happy our teams' results from yesterday. Wisconsin still has an outside shot at the BCS (Penn State and Iowa would both have to lose (unlikely) and Wisconsin would have to win its last two games (@ Northwestern & @ Hawaii, so likely), so I'm pretty excited about that. I'm pretty sure Janessa would go crazy if BYU ended up in the Las Vegas Bowl again, so let's hope they keep winning and that doesn't happen.
Finally, only 8 more days until Janessa and I go to Vernal for Thanksgiving. Even though I'll be studying a lot (which I should probably be doing right now...), it'll be nice to have a bit of a break!
