Back in Madison...But for How Long???

I guess the main thing from this last week had to do with General Conference. This weekend Janessa took a nice little break and drove down to IL. It ended up working out really well, as Janessa's business trip ended up in Rockford on Thursday. After work I drove down from Madison, picked her up, and then we both continued on to Algonquin. The rest of the weekend went well, as we went out to eat, hung out with my family, and, of course, watched Conference. It was nice to be out of Madison for a few days, especially given how busy we've both been the last little bit.

Unfortunately one thing we haven't been busy with is sifting through law school acceptance letters. That's not to say that we've received a bunch of rejections - we haven't received any updates. Why it takes so long is all sort of confusing to me, but I guess all these schools run on different schedules. The thing is though, that the $150 seat deposit for St. Louis is due on the 15th. With this being the only school that's given us a definitive acceptance as of now, we'll have to buck up and pay the fee. Then if another school lets us in after the 15th we'll just eat the $150 and go there. So the schools we're still waiting on are UNC, ASU, Oregon, UNLV, and FSU. Madison's still our #1 choice, but who knows when we'll find out what's going on there...

I guess something else I should mention is that I'm finally getting into the swing of things at TruGreen. I've been getting mentored the last couple of weeks, just going out into the field with a more experienced tech and doing lawns with him. This past Thursday I had my pesticide applicator's exam with the state, and even though I didn't read the last 1/3 of the book I was one of only 2 new hires to pass. It's physically-demanding work, but at least it's something stable. With all the people losing their jobs now, I'm just happy to have something that allows me to work 40+ hours a week for a decent salary.
