For those of you who didn't know, today was Janessa's birthday. You may have thought, as I did, that the fact that she turned 22 last year meant she would be turning 23. That would have been a mistake though, as she only turned 22.1. Yup, I guess after age 22 that girls only age one year for every ten boy years. Just another thing I've learned since being married.
However, since her birthday was today (a Sunday), there wasn't really anything we could go and do. Thus this weekend turned into Janessa's Birthday Extravaganza. For the 2nd year in a row we went to the UW spring football game. It was fun to see college football again, and really fun for me to see some of Wisconsin's young players. As fun as it was, though, the halftime rain had other plans and forced us to leave during the break.
Later that night Janessa and I went out to dinner at HuHot, this Mongolian grill we'd been meaning to check out. It's a buffet-style, do-it-yourself stir fry place. You basically go through a line, pick out everything (meat, noodles, vegetables, fruit, and sauce) you want, and then a bunch of cooks get it ready right there in front of you. We didn't have to wait too long, it was close, and it wasn't too expensive. Pretty much the perfect dinner date place!
Today after Church Janessa got to open a gift from me and a gift from her mother (my mom's gift is in the mail). Janessa's mom made her an apron (pictured below), while I got her some stuff from Bath and Body Works. As a side-note, I doubt few people realize how intimidating a store that place can be to a guy with no sisters. Having only been in there maybe one or two times in my life, I was a little overwhelmed when I went to get Janessa's gift. However, after spraying several of the different fragrances I was able to pick one out for Janessa. Considering she likes it, I think my journey into the unknown was a success.
Now a little law school update to end. UNLV changed their online status from "Decision Pending" to "Decision Rendered," so we should know what it is in a day or two. I'll be sure to keep you all updated.

I love the birthday cake! Great decorating job, Brett. And the apron is beautiful on a beautiful woman! However, you neglected to say that Momma John "made" the apron, rather than "got" it. Gotta get credit where I can! lol We're crossing our fingers for UNLV!
It totally says made. I have no idea what you're talking about...
Happy Birthday! I hope you had a good one. And I like the way you age, sounds good to me!!
I'm sorry Janessa, but if I have to be 23 then so do you! None of this 22.1 crap!
