When Carter went to the pediatrician for his 4-month wellness check, his weight was only in the 25th percentile. The doctor wasn't worried because he was so tall (95th percentile), but she did say we could try to start feeding him solids if he seemed interested. I tried to give him some, but most of it ended up on his chin and he really wasn't too into it. I kept trying a few times a week until finally about two weeks ago Carter started opening his mouth for me and getting his happy, excited hand shake when I could get him ready to eat.
When I was pregnant I decided that I really wanted to make Carter's food. It isn't that I am against baby food from the store or anything; I just thought it would be a fun thing to do and would save some money. Turns out, I have really enjoyed it. I got myself a small baby food processor (basically a small blender) because my normal size blender was to large to get a good puree. I baked and pureed a butternut squash and it made about 22 ounces of food (awesome!) So far I have only made squash, carrots and peas. I think peas are his favorite and carrots his least fav. FYI, pureed peas look like lime green slime.
