MOMMA

I've been a mom now for seven weeks--seven whole weeks. Sometimes I feel like I have been a mom forever and other times I wake up and reach to touch my pregnant belly. The last seven weeks have been quite a ride, but Carter is so worth it. There are a few things that surprised me about this baby and taking care of him.

1) Who knew such a little body could make such loud noises! Besides the obvious noises, this kid grunts like an old man. He usually does this when he is waking up; he isn't a morning person. I've slept so much better since moving him into his own room. Best. Decision. Ever.

2) How do his little hands collect so much lint? Cleaning his hands is one of my favorite activities while I am feeding him. However, now he is getting smarter and will clench his fists even tighter when I try to open his hand.

3) Speaking of feeding, that didn't come as naturally as I thought I was going to. Everyone always makes it sounds so easy. False.

4) Nobody warned me that babies can shoot poop across the room. Consider yourself warned. Yes, I learned this from experience.

5) Who knew I could function on four hours of sleep that I got in 2 hour intervals?

6) Who knew they even made kids this cute?
