Baby CarCar

Almost exactly six months ago (tomorrow) I took a pregnancy test or two and got positive results. Now, my belly is growing larger every day, my belly button is about to go from an innie to an outie, my ankles and calves are more often swollen than not, and I have heartburn almost constantly. Guess what? I love every minute of it (almost). I could do without the 1:00 am heartburn sessions or the 2:00 am trips to the potty, but feeling this kid beat up my insides is so awesome.

I designed a collage last night of various ultrasound and pregnant belly pictures and it got me thinking about the last seven months with this baby growing inside me. I remember trying to figure out if he was a boy or a girl by trying to hone my motherly intuition; it didn't work. I can't believe I didn't have it figured out because I have a feeling this kid is going to be a lot like his daddy. Here are two pieces of evidence:

1) On the second ultrasound we were looking at the baby and the technician was pointing out body parts, when the tech points out the legs and one ankle was crossed over the other knee. The tech thought this was hilarious while I had visions of Brett often laying in the same exact position.

2) I had an ultrasound two weeks ago and Carter was measured. He was right on track weight wise (55 percentile) for a 29 week old baby. However, his head circumference was the size of a 31 week old, and his torso was the size of a barely 29 week old. Who does that sound like? Slightly larger than normal head and skinny little waistline?

In other related baby topics, has anyone ever written a book with ridiculous/offensive/funny questions pregnant women have been asked by random people? If not, someone should. Here would be two of my contributions from a ward party last night. (One thing to note I wasn't at my ward last week because I was Utah.)

Brett and I walk into the party and the first person we run into is the bishop's wife. She takes one look at me and says that I've just popped right out there.
Thanks for pointing out the fact that my stomach sticks out there. And in my defense, I feel like Carter has been going through another growth spurt this last week.

Another lady in my ward overheard this conversation and asked if we had an ultrasound. Yes, several. "And there's only one baby?"
Yes there is only one baby. I'm 31 weeks pregnant, what do people expect? I know I look like I swallowed a basketball, but is it necessary to point out that fact? You tell me.
